Functional Communication: Teaching Children Good Behavior
your homeABA (Applied Behavior Analyst) Specialist Bianca Galang will lead an online presentation on functional communication to teach us some ways we can increase positive behaviors with our little ones. "Have you ever dealt with a challenging child when it comes to eating, getting dressed, brushing teeth, or just trying to get out the front door? Using simple ABA techniques like functional communication training or first/then statements can help to increase good behaviors- like getting a child to clean up a mess or helping them to share a toy- while decreasing unwanted behaviors- like tantrums, hitting, screaming, and crying. While these techniques are typically used for individuals that are on the spectrum, the methods are universal and can be used on children, pets, and even your husbands!" Bianca teaches in a Special Education Classroom in Southern California and has been an ABA Specialist for six years. Zoom link will be posted prior to the presentation.
