Keeping Our Communities Safe: A Conversation with Kate Gegg, AM LCSW

Online

Join us online for a conversation with Kate Gegg, AM LCSW, about prevention tactics as it relates to mass shootings and violence, and how we can all work to keep our communities and our children safe. Kate will present research from The Violence Project, a non-profit, non-partisan research center based in MN. Kate has been actively working with other therapists and The Violence Project to help make their data driven intervention strategies more accessible to the public. The presentation will cover the pathways to mass shootings and how we as individuals can work towards prevention within our families, our neighborhoods, and our schools. The goal is for each person to leave the presentation feeling like they have a deeper understanding of these events, meaningful ways to talk to our children about mental health, and concrete steps that can be taken to decrease the likelihood of a mass shooting in their lives. Kate will present for approx. 40 minutes, then we'll have a 20 min Q&A. Feel free to submit any questions in the comments, or you can submit privately to Meghan Kastenholz via DM. For more information and resources, please follow Kate on Instagram at @copingwithkate and The Violence Project @theviolencepro or https://www.theviolenceproject.org/ A Zoom link will be shared closer to the date. Stay tuned!
